The cabin sole (floor) around the galley has been finished off with borders and cutouts for the handles. Most of the visible sole can be removed to allow access into the bilge for storage and inspection. In a steel boat the bilge will only be wet if there is a leak somewhere, otherwise it stays dry and is an excellent place for storing things. The white piece of floor is the base for the fridge cabinet.
