Good bye Yamoya, Bonjour Songa

Sitting at Brisbane airport waiting for our flight to France, we bid good bye to one adventure and start the next.

After much waiting and some twiddling of the thumbs the time finally came for us to farewell our yacht and home. Yamoya has been passed on to John and his family, her new owners. We hope that mighty Neptune and mighty Aeolus continue to afford their protection over Yamoya and her new crew, and that she finds shelter from tempest and storm, and continues to have safe passage between ports. Yamoya was out travelling home for the last seven to nine years and we placed our full trust in her to be able to keep us safe, which she did, admirably. Adieu, Yamoya.

Giving ourselves hardly any time to catch our breath, we’re now sitting in a lounge at Brisbane International airport waiting for our flight to Paris, with a very short stopover in Doha, Qatar. We have with us some clothes, our computers and cameras. Everything else we own is in a container on its way to France. At present its on a ship in the Java Sea heading towards Singapore. We’re left wondering if our possessions will arrive in France before we’re due to leave on our first voyage? We’ve been assured that they should arrive before the end of April. Hmmm… If that happens, great! Otherwise, plan B.

Between now and the end of April our new home, Songa, will be commissioned. We won’t have much to do in that process as we’re leaving it to yacht dealer to coordinate. In fact, we’re not allowed on the yacht during this time, except for a small visit from time to time. Our job during this time is mostly to confirm colours, point out where we want power outlets and eat croissants.

So, the Songa adventure is beginning in earnest. More updates to follow.
